Linnie M. Cunningham and her son, Alan, bade farewell to Robert Felder Cunningham, harp-maker, husband and father, on April 18th in his beloved Atlanta. Per his wishes, he is being cremated privately and the family seeks to have a remembrance ceremony and Celebration of Life service in a few months time (check here for updates). He has left a big hole in our lives, but the biggest loss is Linnie's. She continues to live in the house Bob built for them, surrounded by his presence---from the instruments he crafted, the paintings he painted, the doors, floors and ceilings he built. As she goes through her process, Linnie would honestly welcome your phone calls to chat about Bob or your cards, notes or letters. Please remember small gestures are comforting for her rather than extravagant ones. She does answer her phone but let it ring for a bit because it takes her time to get there. For visits, just ring her beforehand, typically a day's notice is just fine. In addition, the following types of support are welcome: 1) Simple Food delivery. - Use the Care Calendar to pick a date. Read the Special Notes. If you want to deliver food separately, please read the Special Notes in advance. 2) Grocery fund - Linnie orders her groceries online at Kroger's. You are welcome to make a donation through a Visa card where she can order some prepared items herself. You can specify "Kroger account" in the notes/messages during checkout. In-kind will pool these donations to use with the vendor. 3) Flower donations for the future Celebration of Life are welcome. Go to Quick Support links on the right and select the Visa Gift card option. In-kind will pool your donations to use with a vendor at that time. You can specify "Flowers" in the notes/messages during checkout. 4) We're torn about the use of Uber Eats or Door Dash gift cards at this time. She is not used to ordering food out so there is a learning curve and now is not the time to rock her world. (see #1 above!) However, we know it is a convenient way to give. If this makes sense to you knowing Linnie, we will do our best to help her learn how to use the gift card online.
Porch visits are good. Care Calendar instructions: We have limited the schedule to one meal (lunch or dinner) every other day to avoid waste ((which she abhors) or overwhelm. Less is More. Nothing spicy or large quantities. Nothing heavy (like a large casserole). We are avoiding fresh fruit at this time. Deliveries between 12:30 pm and 5:30 pm are fine. 1) Simple Food Delivery: Soup + salad deliveries only (no sandwiches) from Panera. For example, broccoli cheddar soup + chicken cobb salad OR + Creamy Tomato and Fuji apple salad. Use the Panera gift card option or deliver directly from www.Panera.com. 2) Quiches or things that you can slice and then store will work for her as well. (If you have an Instacart account, you can use the Gift option on that also) 3) Freezer friendly items. Baked goods that freeze well (like small loafs of banana or zuchhini bread or a tea bread) are useful. Small assortment of muffins (eg blueberry) are fine as well. You can always text Mini at 703.964.7357 with questions. Gift card options are already loaded with her email and home address! If you need her physical address, please text me.
