With heavy hearts, we share the passing of 11-year-old Ja’Meire Curtis Norwood, a beautiful and resilient soul who deeply touched the lives of those around him. Ja’Meire was born with a rare genetic condition known as Miller-Dieker Syndrome (MDS)—a severe form of lissencephaly caused by a deletion of genetic material on chromosome 17p13.3. This condition brought many challenges, including developmental delays, seizures, and complex medical needs, but Ja’Meire faced each day with quiet strength and courage. Surrounded by the constant love and care of his devoted parents, Ja'Michael and Chelsea Norwood, and the adoration of his younger brother James and sister Ava, Ja’Meire lived a life filled with deep connection and unshakeable love. His presence was a gift, his life a testament to perseverance and grace, and his spirit an inspiration to all who knew him. During this time of unimaginable loss, we invite family, friends, and supporters to rally around the Norwood family. Whether through meals, donations, or acts of kindness, your support will provide comfort and practical help as they navigate this heartbreaking season. No amount is too large or too small. Thank you for honoring Ja’Meire’s memory and for lifting up Ja'Michael, Chelsea, James, and Ava with love and compassion.
