Story
All of you know Damian's current situation by now. But in case you need details, he has Parkinson's and likely Lewy Body Dementia. He has good days and bad with his memory. His Parkinson's requires him to exercise five or six days a week to keep up his core strength, balance, and keep from bending forward and needing a walker. Exercises are hanging from the calendar in the kitchen. Damian likes spicy food, visiting and watching movies. He'll generally tell you what he wants to eat, but may need a few choices to choose from. Too many choices and you can expect to take awhile for him to decide. He'll often be okay with whatever you're eating too, as long as it's not made with cream or mayonnaise. Pizza or chicken wings are go-to meal options he always likes, I usually try to fit in a salad or vegetable with them. Some days he needs help dressing (not always), finding something to watch on TV, and figuring out how to operate his lift chair in the living room. He doesn't do laundry, cook, or do dishes anymore because he forgets steps for each task. He's pretty independent with taking his medications when his medicine case alarms 4 times a day. But sometimes forgets to tip it over on the counter to get the pills out, so you might hear it beep for a long time as he figures it out. He takes out extra clothes to get dressed and if you don't put them away once he's done, he'll consider them all dirty and put them in the laundry.
