Gent~Castro Familia Hello we are the Gent-Castro family. Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and support our family during one of the most difficult times in our lives. For those who know us, you know we are a strong, outgoing family with three incredible kids who mean the world to us. Over the years, the 5 of us have weathered some pretty big storms, but nothing could have prepared us for the battle we are facing now. In early March, Sara noticed a lump on the left side of her neck. Thankfully, she trusted her instincts and began making the necessary calls and appointments to get it checked. After multiple doctor visits, tests, and scans we received the heartbreaking diagnosis: Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Hearing the word “cancer” completely changed our lives in an instant. While we, unfortunately, are no strangers to this type of cancer, that familiarity also reminds us that recovery is possible. Although this diagnosis has brought fear and uncertainty into our lives, we are holding on tightly to hope. Through every appointment and every difficult day, Sara continues to fight with incredible strength, courage, and determination — even on the days she feels exhausted, overwhelmed, and scared. As much as we wish we could handle this journey on our own, the emotional, physical and mental burden has become overwhelming. We are humbly asking for help during this incredibly difficult season for our family. Any donation, prayer, meal, help with the kids, or words of encouragement mean more to us than we could ever express. Your support will help ease some of the day to day stress and allow us to focus on what matters most — Sara’s fight, healing, and recovery, while keeping our family strong through it all. The amount of love and support we have already received from family and friends has been truly overwhelming in the best possible way. Seeing the tribe standing behind us has reminded us that we are not alone in this fight. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every prayer, message, act of kindness, and bit of support as we navigate these rough waters and fight for brighter days ahead. Hello friends and family! Thank you for your patience as we get their specific support needs in place. *There are multiple ways you can help the Gent-Castro family* 1) The family has requested two days a week of home cooked meals to be delivered on Wednesday, the day before her treatment and Thursday, the day after treatment. Please see calendar below for signup slots and special requests. Please note- When dropping food off place the food in the cooler that is located on their front porch. The family would like to limit visiting during this time. There will be a book placed near the cooler so you may write any words of support or encouragement to the family. Meal requests from the Gent family: *Likes: Lasagna Soups Casseroles Tacos- any Mexican food Chinese Pasta salads Big salads with protein Strawberry ice cream *Dislikes: Pasta with red sauce (lasagna is fine though)- please limit pastas in general They do not want a lot of frozen foods as space is the issue Other food items or notes: *Treats and snacks for kiddos to take to school *The family has also requested that food items are kept separate i.e. dressings, cold foods and hot foods 2) Gift cards to Kroger and Door dash are appreciated. With all of their schedules them having the flexibility to order food as needed would be very helpful. 3) Kiddo care! The family has asked that friends come "kidnap" Gabi to keep her distracted on the weekend post treatments. Sleepovers are welcome and encouraged.
