Sept. 23 update: As everyone knows, Alex was unexpectedly readmitted to Arthur Childs on Sunday. Unfortunately, he has another spinal fracture. They are planning to do another kyphoplasty (glue) on Thursday for him which should help the pain. He also still has signs of an infection, that they are monitoring closely. Sounds like he will not be home until at least Friday.....................so Sue and Cassana have resumed their 12 hour tag team shifts (Sue on days and Cassana on nights). Wondering if we can support them with meals though 'til Sunday? (it will be a busy weekend if he does come home.) Kevin and I will do bar b q salmon tonight, and I know Emily had already signed up for Friday evening. just FYI: Sharon took over homemade soup, and I did a frittata for them yesterday (so they have those items). Fingers crossed that things go smoothly over next few days, and Alex gets home on Friday. September 12 update With Alex's discharge from hospital yesterday, Sue and the girls will not be doing 12 hour shifts at the hospital anymore ---yayyyy! (but they will still be busy caring for Alex in the house with the assistance of homecare). Sue does not feel like they need formal meals throughout the week, but would appreciated it on Fridays when they are up to Arthur Child's for chemo treatment. I will change the meal train to dinners on Fridays for now. I'm sure they will still appreciate any baking or frozen meals or such if anyone is so inclined. They are incredibly grateful for all the meals over the past month. Alex's appetite (and taste buds) will likely be impacted by the chemo----so worth checking with Sue re same :). cheers, glenda Hello All, Thank you so much for your kind contributions to keeping mom fed during this difficult time so far! ❤️ As things have shifted a bit with Dad being admitted into the hospital, we have opened up the meal train to any day now. This will help greatly as mom is spending all day in the hospital and heading home in the evenings. Cassana will be back to stay indefinitely as of Thursday, so any meals included for her as well would be so appreciated. Cassana does have gluten free, pescatarian dietary requirements. Small, ready made meals that can be warmed up, freezer meals, or take out, it all makes life a little easier for them right now ❤️ Please touch base with Glenda regarding best drop off times for your day. Sometimes mom will have her put it is the fridge ect. Thank you again for so generously helping so much already. They are truly blessed with some wonderful friends! Jenni I’m reaching out to some of their friends and family to see if you’d be willing to help with a meal here and there. There’s absolutely no pressure or expectation, even one meal would be such a huge help and mean so much ❤️. Thank you for helping us surround them with a little extra love and support while they navigate this difficult time. Love, Jenni
