Two years ago, Gianna was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, stage IV. She has gone through many treatments, including 4 surgeries, a round of chemotherapy after each surgery, and trial drugs. It is very difficult to manage the medical drug plan and be a working mother. Alvin is working 4 extended days so he can devote the other three days to care of wife and their 3 sons. He often gets home late at night between 9pm and 10pm, only to have to cook dinner for the boys who wait for him. (I promise I am going to give cooking lessons to all 3.) To all our friends and family who have offered help, I thank you. Share encouraging stories; remind Gianna and the family that they are loved and have a support network. Most assuredly, pray for them. The next leg of this journey will not be any easier. Check this page often.
Gianna is getting most of her nutrition through a tube. Soft foods (yogurt, apple sauce, pudding) are still on the table. She consumes energy and vitamin drinks. Alvin and the boys have no food allergies.
