Support for Sarah After Shoulder Surgery

Denver, CO

Story

Hiya loves, Thank you so much for landing here and supporting me. I’m really grateful for all of you who pour into me, laugh with me, build with me, and hold me in community. This message is hard to write because asking for help is vulnerable, but I’m learning (slowly!) that you can’t be a good community member if you never let your people show up for you too. As many of you know, I injured my shoulder and knee while hiking in Boulder. The moral of the story is: sit your ass down and don’t rush. The universe made that lesson loud and clear because now I’ll literally be sitting down for a while. As fate would have it, my next adventure is recovery. The fall caused full tears in 2 of 4 rotator cuff tendons in my right (dominant) shoulder. I’ll be having surgery Dec 4th, and the recovery is long — up to 12 months to regain full strength. Over the next six months especially, I’ll be navigating some big limitations. The first six weeks after surgery my arm will be completely immobilized in a sling so the tendons can reattach. That means no lifting, no pushing/ pulling, no reaching, no cooking, typing, house tasks- just healing. I am so blessed to have family flying in to support me during this first month of recovery with daily living tasks! After that comes the phase of slowly regaining range of motion, then slowly rebuilding strength. This is a huge pivot in my life. Y’all know I’m usually traveling, exploring, and in motion. This injury has brought all the movement to a full stop. I’ll be grounded back in Denver for the next year focusing on healing and settling into my space. So below, I’m sharing ways you can help during this time and a sign up list — everything from meals to unpacking boxes to playlists and moral support. Whatever you feel called to offer, I’m deeply grateful. 💛 Ways to Help 🍜✨ FOOD SUPPORT: Meals easy to eat one-handed (high-protein, low-sodium) 📦🌈 SETTLING IN: Help me unpack, assemble items/electronics, organize, hang art 💆🏽‍♀️🌺 BODY CARE AND WELLNESS: Cupping sessions certificates, Plants/flowers, acupuncture, CBD items, etc. 🎶💗 SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: Send playlists, podcasts, horoscopes, affirmations, or check-in messages 🏡🌞 HOME SUPPORT: Fold laundry, take out trash, put away dishes, light tidying 🌿🤍 CONNECTIONS: Visits or phone calls, companionship for gentle walks/stretch buddies 🎁🌟 WISHLIST ITEMS: Practical recovery tools, comfort items, or monetary support (check the AMAZON WISHLIST) 🛍️ Wishlist NOTES: If you choose to help by gifting something, please don’t feel like it has to come from Amazon or be brand new. I love supporting handmade and small businesses, and y’all know I’m a hippie at heart; so I love a good thrift find, a gently used treasure, or something locally made. 🌱 Final Notes I’ll be here in Denver resting, healing, and staying put (for real this time). If you’re in the area, please come by; help me unpack, share a meal, sit with me, or just bring your energy into the space. Thank you for holding me through this season of slowing down, sitting still, and healing. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with community in new, tender ways. It means more than I can say to be held by community when I need it most. We are all worthy of receiving care and love.
