A friend of mine came over to hangout after a night at the bar Tuesday night, and left early yesterday morning around 3 am. He went to his truck to leave, but while he was sitting in front of my house, he was shot 7 times. So far it seems that the attack was completely random. He was literally just scrolling on tiktok. He was a shot in his arm, neck, and back. He’s alive, thank God, and was actually able to get discharged from the med with a bunch of bandaged gunshot wounds and a pretty bad broken arm. He didn’t get a look at the shooter/shooters because once the shooting started, he put his truck in drive and drove himself to LeBonheur, not realizing that he had been shot 7 times. With the exception of the obvious, some really shitty stuff has come from all this. One of which is the fact that he was LITERALLY suppose to move into a new place YESTERDAY and ALLLLLL of his belongings were in his truck, which is now being held by MPD for evidence. I got a friend of mine to let him borrow some pajama pants and a shirt, but that’s literally all he has now. This man has been in Memphis for a month a 3 weeks. Nice introduction, right? Since he was discharged and had no where to go, and no way to get anywhere, I picked him up from Regional One and now he’s resting at my home. I’m trying my hardest to take care of him and keep him as comfortable as possible, but fuck, this is hard for a 21 year old that just started a new job with my dream company. Another shitty part is that my apartment complex is COMPLETELY denying that it even happened here. There is broken glass all over my parking lot, my neighbors have bullets lodged in their windows, and the police report CLEARLY states where the attack took place. Why are they denying? Oh, they INSIST that because he drove himself to the hospital and didn’t call the police from the complex, that it “technically didn’t happen here”. Fucking bullshit. I went to the management office with two separate news crews to ask why they won’t protect their residents by at least informing them, and they slammed the door in our face and said “no comment”. Let’s not even mention the mental distress that this has brought on. My friend is a complete physical and mental wreck. I’m a complete wreck. I don’t know what to do next. I’m paranoid, terrified, exhausted, and honestly pissed off beyond explanation. "
