We created this page, to surround Amber with prayers, well wishes, monetary donations, and meals for her and her family as she battles colon cancer. No one fights alone when it comes to cancer. As most of you know, she is never one to ask for help, but we all have been touched by Amber’s kindness at some point in our lives. We thank you for your support as she continues her battle! #teamnickens From Amber : Back in December, I started having pain in my side and lower back. I never had any of the traditional symptoms we learn about. I went to see my doctor and had a CT that showed a tumor. I was scheduled to have a colonoscopy in January but didn't get that far because I had to be rushed to the ER. The tumor had caused a full blockage in my intestines and I had ileostomy surgery the next day. While in the hospital, I had numerous tests done to confirm my diagnosis and see where we needed to go from there. After even more testing following my release from the hospital, I have learned that my cancer is advanced and I have a type that is more aggressive.. Our ultimate goal is that my chemotherapy treatment will be successful enough that I can be a candidate for surgery. I appreciate everyone who has shown so much support and love to my family. It means everything. If you notice something, speak with your doctor. Don't wait. I will be continuing my fight and I'm truly thankful for those with me on this journey.
