Gabrielle’s current diagnosis is either Burkitt lymphoma (BL) or Burkitt-like lymphoma (BLL), both being rare and highly aggressive forms of non-Hodgkin, B-cell lymphoma. We are awaiting the results of genome-testing to determine whether it’s BL or BLL. Due to both versions’ aggressive natures, whichever one it turns out to be is expected to respond well to intensive chemotherapy. Gabrielle’s treatment plan is to receive chemo in the hospital for 4-5 days (admitted to the hospital each time) every 2-3 weeks for the next 5-6 months. It will be a long and difficult treatment plan, but tends to be effective and recovery is in the high percentage. She was chosen to present and defend her thesis at her school's Evening of Rhetoric. The beauty of what she presented, and also its current poignancy, is great.
