Shhhhh… It’s a Surprise! Vincent’s Road to Recovery

Martinsville, VA

W
Story

PLEASE READ ENTIRELY!!! Hi everyone, It’s Shawnta’. As many of you know, Dad underwent a total hip replacement in October 2024. From the beginning, we were a little hesitant about the surgery because of the strain it could place on his heart. Unfortunately, in March 2026, he was hospitalized after developing an infection in the hip joint. While this type of complication is rare, it was completely beyond his control. He then spent 8 weeks with a PICC line receiving antibiotics. On Tuesday, June 23rd, Dad will undergo another surgery to remove the infected component and thoroughly clean the affected area. This procedure will be more invasive than the first surgery. Following the operation, he will once again need a PICC line for 6–8 weeks of antibiotics and begin another round of physical therapy and recovery. If you know my dad, then you know he has spent his life helping others. Every time I turn around, he seems to have adopted another child, grandchild, friend, or neighbor. 😂 He has never hesitated to give his time, resources, wisdom, or support to anyone in need. He would truly give his last dollar to help someone else. Now it's our turn to show up for him. We appreciate your prayers, encouragement, and support as he faces this next chapter of recovery. Thank you for keeping him lifted up during this time. Thank you in advance, Management (Oops... I mean Shawnta’)😆❤️

Special Notes

Thank you all so much for your love, prayers, and support during this time. As Dad recovers from this invasive surgery, we are asking that visitation be limited until July 10, 2026, so he can focus on resting, healing, and regaining his strength. If visitation restrictions are lifted before then, we will be sure to post an update here in the group. If you would like an update on his condition or have any questions, please feel free to contact Shawnta’ at 434-610-2865. Thank you for your understanding, continued prayers, and support. We love and appreciate each and every one of you. With love, Management (Okay, okay... it's still Shawnta'. 😊)
