Thank you for stopping by! This page is set up to show support to Caleb & Jessica as they welcome their first baby. Anything helps as they adjust to parenthood. On this page you can send meals, gift cards, or flowers. Prayers are welcome and encouraged as they transition into this new chapter of life. Declan Birth Story and Moms recovery story. Mom was diagnosed with gestational hypertension in the third trimester with no other signs of preeclampsia. At 36 weeks mom began to have extremely itchy feet and hands. Little did we know this was a rare condition called cholestasis. This condition can be very risky for both mom and baby so she was sent straight to L&D to start the induction process. After laboring for 30 hours mom started to develop an infection that skyrocketed her blood pressure and both her and babys heartbeat. This lead to an emergency c-cection. The c-cection went great. And Declan came out healthy! Praise the Lord! But the recovery process for mom had just started. After spending a couple days in postpartum mom began to swell (which isn't uncommon for postpartum so no one was too worried) and was discharged about 3 days later with no other major warning signs. The evening of her coming home she began to feel very off and checked her blood pressure. It was 180/110 YIKES! She went straight back to the hospital and was admitted with severe postpartum preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. It all happened so fast. Once admitted the Drs immediately moved to see if the swelling caused any damage to her heart, lungs and brain. After many scans and X-rays, we found that the swelling had entered her lungs. In addition to that, her blood pressure remained at very risky levels and she began to have hyper-reflexology which could mean swelling in the brain. After flushing her body from all liquids the swelling in her lungs and body began to decrease and the hypertension resolved. However, her blood pressure was still highly elevated. After a couple of days of continuing to increase, change, and adjust medication, we've finally found a combination that should work until she fully recovers from postpartum. During this process it was truly all hands on Dec! We've had many family members come in and help us as mom recovers in hospital. He continues to remain super healthy and so loved. It's not been an easy journey but sweet Declan is worth it all. And Jess must be one rare of a person to have all these rare things develop. Finally, they are able to go home and start to settle into life with Dec and would love your support as Jess continues to heal.
Jessica and Caleb love home cooked meals, they also love Chick-Fil-A/Raising Canes! No Seafood or Thai food at this time.
