I want to be upfront and honest about where I am in life right now. I recently left my corporate job because it took a serious toll on my mental health, and I reached a point where I simply couldn’t continue. I’ve worked my entire life, but I’ve become incredibly burned out by the pace and expectations of the world we live in. I have three girls, and one of the hardest realizations for me has been recognizing how much time I felt I was missing with them. I was spending so much of my life working a traditional 9-to-5 that I often felt like I was giving the best parts of my time and energy to work instead of being present with my children. I’m currently applying for jobs and haven’t found the right opportunity yet. And if I’m being completely honest, the thought of returning to another corporate environment just to provide financially brings me a tremendous amount of anxiety. More than anything, I wish I had more time with my girls. I want to be present. I want to slow down. I want to find a way to build a life that allows me to provide for my family while also actually being there to experience it with them. I know there are people facing circumstances far more difficult than mine, and I don’t take the things I have for granted. So I’m putting myself out there and allowing myself to be vulnerable. I’m reaching out for support as I try to figure out what comes next. I don’t have all the answers right now, but I’m hopeful that there is a different path for me one that allows me to work, provide, and still have the time and freedom to be the mom I want to be.
