On January 22nd I’ll be going in for surgery to remove my right ovary which is a 7.5 cm complex cyst. Based on the Ultrasound and MRI, the gynecological oncologist was concerned about it being cancerous and immediately scheduled surgery. Since then CT scans have revealed that it is most likely a dermoid cyst which is very rarely cancerous. That said, it still needs to be removed due to the size (risk of torsion or rupture if not removed) and as removal/biopsy is the only sure way to rule out cancer. The first two weeks I’m going to focus as much as possible on healing and the start of the semester as these would be weeks someone with a desk job would take off from work. During this period I’m looking for help with meals on some days. Najwa can cook, but if left fully in charge of this we’ll be eating nothing but spaghetti and grilled cheese. As I’m an EMT, I will be having to take 8 weeks off work due to lifting restrictions. This length of time on disability is going to mean things will be pretty tight for our household. Funds and/or gift cards for meals and groceries would be the most helpful for us during this period. Other than that, phone calls, visits, and memes would be greatly appreciated too. Seriously, hit me up to go on walks or come hang out irl. Any help is appreciated! Thank you for supporting Najwa and I while I recover!
We eat most food, but as this is post-abdominal surgery for me, fried and other junk foods should be avoided. Vegetable, fruit, and fiberous meals are best!
