Ava has been at Cayuga Medical Center since Sunday afternoon. After several tests it seems she is needing her gall bladder removed. Before that, they are transferring her to Sayre, PA to get a procedure to remove a stone from her biliary duct which should resolve the inflamed pancreas/liver issues. As her mama, all the way down in Florida, with my own health challenges that keep me from flying up, it is extremely difficult to be so far away. I’d love to be by her side through this, but mostly after she gets home. Ava is nervous about recovery, a new dietary plan, being out of work, and the general healing process. It takes a village- so I am humbly reaching out to mine and hers to help support her, and her partner Rosie, through this rough patch. I will update this site once we know when she will be home, what her dietary restrictions are, and how she is feeling about visits, timing, etc. For now, knowing she has support, will help ease her mind as she goes through these procedures.
Ava will need a low fat, bland diet when she gets home for the first couple weeks. Then she can slowly added in more fiber with vegetables and grains. It’s recommended she eat several small meals a day vs. 3. I will put in the calendar as dinner and perhaps it can be food that can easily be portioned off for a few smaller meals. First couple weeks can include: Lean proteins (skinless poultry, white fish, egg white) White rice Saltines Oatmeal Noodles plain Yogurt Low fat cottage cheese Low fat pudding Apples Bananas Cooked carrots Zucchini Clear broths Herbal teas Cooked meals would be great and it will be equally helpful to get simple grocery items that don’t require much prep.
