09/19/25, Crystal (Martin) McLear, gained her wings. A wife, a mother, a Nonna, a daughter, a niece, a friend, a cousin, a gift of presence in our life that we will forever cherish. For 16 years she battled Medullary Thyroid Cancer. In 2009, she was diagnosed at 31 years young, Married to Scott for only 9 years at that time. Raising her 3 boys, her youngest just 5 years old, and her oldest was 12 at the time. It was an uphill battle she climbed and climbed. To know her was to love her, that went without being said. If there was a life lesson Crystal was here to teach us, The message I took from her is to: Count your blessings, and To make it count! On a “bad day” she wasn’t complaining, she keep on, “keeping on”. She was always going to fit in wherever she was at, a table of CEO’s, a 90’s hip-hop concert, or Friday night Bingo.. As I sit here and reflect, and try to put into words, such an authentic, genuine, sincere and open hearted person that she was, I realize this is just the first day, that we, as her friends and family, will need to learn to live our lives Through her, and for her, without her physically here. As her cousin, this stings badly. I can’t imagine how her boys or her husband feel. She asked me several times, “Promise me, The boys will always know I loved them” my answer was always, of course, absolutely.
