Supporting Jon Joyce and Family During Recovery

Temple, TX

W
Story

I wanted to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for visiting this page and seeing how you can help our loved ones. Jon has a long recovery ahead that will include a special diet to keep his heart nice and healthy. Since a lot of the family's efforts will be spent aiding in his recovery, we are asking for some assistance for dinners and some groceries. There will also be the opportunity to send food gift cards or donate cash as well if you would like to help but cooking really isn't your thing. On each day I have included a suggestion of a dish which meets specific guidelines for heart healthiness. All suggestions have few ingredients and only about 30 minutes of prep time in an effort to keep things simpler for yall as well. The recipes are there for your ease, they do not need to be followed to the letter but keeping the same general idea will help maintain the heart healthy qualities we are looking for. Thank you to everyone who loves our boy!

Special Notes

What is considered a "heart healthy diet"? “Cardiac diet” is an unofficial term for a heart-healthy diet. It’s an eating plan that emphasizes foods that promote heart health, such as vegetables and fruits, whole grains, lean poultry and oily fish like salmon and tuna that are high in omega-3 fatty acids. The diet also limits processed foods that are high in sugar, salt and unhealthy fats, because these increase the risk of heart disease. https://www.mdanderson.org/cancerwise/cardiac-diet-heart-healthy-diet-what-is-it--what-can-you-eat-and-what-should-you-avoid.h00-159539745.html
