Mia is the beloved daughter of our good friend Erica, and dedicated volunteer with Happy Cat Sanctuary. On 7/17, exactly one month before her 5th birthday, Mia will undergo her 2nd major open-heart surgery in NYC. At just 20 weeks pregnant, Erica learned that Mia had **Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA)**, a serious congenital heart defect. Thankfully, the condition was diagnosed before birth, allowing her medical team to prepare for the care she would need immediately after delivery. At only 1 day old, Mia underwent her first procedure, followed by her first open-heart surgery at just one week old. She spent the first few months of her life in the Children's Hospital, and after everything she endured, her family hoped the hardest part of her journey was behind them. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. During recent follow-up appointments, Mia's cardiology team discovered significant problems involving both her coronary and pulmonary arteries, making another major heart surgery necessary. As Mia prepares for this next chapter, Erica and her fiancé, Danny, are focused on being by her side every step of the way while also caring for their older daughter, 7 year-old Isabella. During Mia's hospitalization, recovery, and the weeks that follow, both parents will need to reduce their work hours, creating additional financial strain during an already overwhelming time. We're asking friends family and the community to come together and help ease some of that burden. Whether it's a donation, a meal, or a gift card to help with food, gas, or everyday necessities, every act of kindness will make a meaningful difference and allow this family to focus on what matters most—Mia's recovery. Thank you for keeping Mia and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Your generosity, support, and encouragement mean more than words can express.
