UPDATE: Burneta returned home this week with the help of her brother Jerry. She is not back to her previous strength and is walking with a walker. She is not strong enough to cook or heat up food for herself currently. She needs help with most daily activities. She may need to move to an assisted care facility but we are giving her some time at home to see how she does. She is also having short-term memory issues. She has requested visits from friends. Bringing prepared hot food will be greatly appreciated. Protein like fish or chicken is most welcome. - She will be receiving care from "Touching Hearts at Home" 4 hours most days to help with basic tasks at home like cooking and cleaning but they are not up to speed yet. - Mobile Macro Meals Club has been engaged to bring hot meals for a period of time. Frequency to be determined. - Amedisys Home Health will be providing Physical and Occupational Therapy visits. Please sign up on the calendar to visit. Afternoons and evenings are best. On the day of your visit please call Burneta and ask her what she would like you to bring. If she says she doesn't know bring hot nourishing food anyway. Your support is greatly appreciated. On Friday, Dec 5, she was admitted to Saint Thomas West Hospital to get x-rays, tests, and to monitor her heart. Although originally thought to not have broken any bones, a CT scan has revealed that Burneta does indeed have a sacral hairline fracture. As of Tuesday evening, Dec 9, she was transferred to a temporary rehabilitation facility: Woodcrest at Blakeford in the Burton Hills compound in Green Hills. Right now, as Burneta will be engaged in the work of rehab and PT, times for visitors may be limited. However, later on, once she goes home, having visits and delivered meals may be a huge help. (For now, Nalani has committed to daily care of Burneta's cat, along with all the other support she provides behind the scenes. Thank you, Nalani!)
