This past year has been one of the most challenging seasons our family has ever faced. We have been navigating multiple life-altering events all at once, doing our best to stay strong for our children while continuing to move forward. Our son underwent open-heart surgery, a frightening and emotionally overwhelming experience that required constant care, time away from work, and significant emotional strength from our entire family. At the same time, our daughter experienced the loss of her father, who served in the military. Supporting her through grief while maintaining stability for our household has been incredibly difficult. During this period, we also faced the loss of employment and housing, creating sudden financial and emotional instability. Despite best efforts, job flexibility was limited—especially when our children were sick or required medical attention—making it even harder to maintain consistent work. My fiancé also experienced a job loss, compounding the strain on our family. Through all of this, we have focused on protecting our children’s sense of safety and normalcy while quietly carrying the weight of these challenges. Any support—whether meals, gift cards, practical help, or encouragement—means more than words can express. It allows us to focus on healing, stability, and being present for our kids during a time when everything has felt uncertain.
