My journey started a year ago with L leg pain, (not related to my Cancer) and soon after started having L head tingling, after an MRI I was told I had a tumor on my C2-C3 vertebrae and looks benign. I soon underwent spinal surgery to remove what Drs said was a nerve sheath tumor and in hopes this would be the end the tingling in my head and I could continue life, pain free. After 4 month of recovery I was given the "Not Cancer" have a great life. But something in me was telling me otherwise! My family dr requested my tissue samples be sent to the mayo clinic, soon after the pathology report came back, A Rare bone cancer! "Chordoma" After months of not given the right diagnosed, I am now having to come to terms with I do have cancer and what do I do next? Radiation Therapy, not just traditional radiation! PROTON RADIATION, only available in 43 centers throughout USA 2 in California, and less than 1% of Cancer patients worldwide will recieve this type of RT. And I am of the 1%! Greatful, that I have this opportunity to hopefully be Cancer Free. I will have to stay in San Diego for a minimum 6 1/2 wks to receive 33 Proton treatment, 5 days a week for up to 45 min. Lucillano we be by my side for most of it, but will have to travel back and forth to take care of our home and animals..
