Matt had quadruple bypass surgery on May 7, 2026. During the surgery recovery Matt suffered one or more strokes and did not immediately wake up from surgery. Matt remained in a coma for over two weeks. Once he woke up he stayed in ICU until June 17 and was then transferred to a rehabilitation center. He has been receiving physical and speech therapy. He has been making slow improvements, walking with the assistance of a walker and using a wheelchair. His speech is getting a little better each day but is a man of few words. He will be coming home this week (the first week of September). It's going to be a huge adjustment for Matt & Lynn figuring out what Matt needs moving forward. One thing we can do for sure sure is help them both with meals.
Things to know. Matt is a diabetic. He is not a big fan of vegetables (except potatoes, sweet potatoes and small salads). To start with I think we should stick to softer foods and adjust as he improves. P.S. Lynn loves vegetables!
