Our family wanted to set up a little meal train to help Ely during her surgery recovery. With her lumpectomy coming up and Brian still on medical leave, we thought having some meals taken care of would be one less thing for them to worry about. Since most of our family and friends live 1,000+ miles away, and they live far enough out that they don’t have DoorDash or restaurant delivery, the traditional “bring them dinner” option isn’t really possible. So we thought we’d share a few ideas for ways everyone can help from wherever they are. Nothing is expected at all. These are just some options that might make things a little easier for them: • Grocery store gift cards (Walmart, Aldi, Pick 'n Save) • Gift cards to restaurants they can pick up from (KFC, Taco Bell, DQ, Culver's, Subway, Little Caesars, Pizza Hut, BK, Arby's, or A&W) • Having groceries or a meal subscription box with ready to heat entrees shipped directly to them (Factor_, Cook Unity, Blue Apron) • Helping them stock the freezer with fully cooked, easy-to-heat meals • Sending healthy, easy pantry or shelf stable snacks. Even something small can make a difference when you’re recovering and trying to keep up with everyday life. There is absolutely no pressure or expectation to contribute. We know everyone has their own lives and busy schedules. We know they appreciate all the love, support, and encouragement everyone has already shown them. ❤️
