Story

Hello! Champions of Youth staff here, we are reaching out for help and support for one of our families in need. Jess Maschino is a single mother who raises a wonderful little girl (Maddie Pike) in our program. She is a great mother and works hard to provide for herself and her daughter. Last August, Jesse was diagnosed with stage 2 Invasive Breast Cancer. She began treatment right away and had a mastectomy in October. In November, she was told the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, she then underwent surgery to remove them. Jess is currently undergoing 25 treatments of radiation. She will have to have another surgery in February or March to have a total hysterectomy due to the cancer, as you can imagine, working a full-time job is an impossible task. Traveling back and forth to doctor's visits has begun to add up. She will have her final reconstruction surgery sometime this summer and hopefully, cancer will be a thing of the past. Over the years of knowing Jess, she has worked hard to provide for her and her daughter. She has never asked for handouts or complained when times are tough. We hope as a community, we can come together and provide some relief for her in these times. There is a cooler on Jess's front porch. please drop off between 4:30-5:30 PM. 120 W Hendricks St If you are unable to drop it off between 4:30 PM- 5:30 PM please feel free to drop it by our office (1201 N Lincoln St Suite D-Our hours are Monday & Wednesday 8-5:30, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 8-3:30). Please give us a call before dropping off at the office to ensure someone is there to receive your offering (812) 663-7556. Gift cards, door dash cards, or as much as $10 would make a huge difference for a single mom going through this with her 11-year-old daughter. We appreciate any and all support. Please email Champions of Youth with any questions- [email protected] or [email protected] Thank you.
