Welcome to Carrie's cancer page! Carrie was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) in early April. For the medical nerds out there, Carrie's tumor has a Nottingham Grade 9 (out of 9 - go big or go home!) and a Ki Score of 31 - 40% (her little friend is a fast grower). She'll be undergoing 12 rounds of chemotherapy (Taxol / Carbo) weekly for the next 12 weeks, with immunotherapy (Keytruda) interspersed every three weeks, starting on April 22nd. Post-12 rounds, we'll redo imaging and then we'll decide (read: the oncologist will decide) whether to do more chemo, or to proceed with surgery. A number of people have reached out to me (her super smart and athletic and cool daughter, Victoria Hoffman) and asked if they can help (you rock! And we appreciate you!), so I've gone ahead and set up this page for help with dinners, walking partners (up bright and early at 5:30am to avoid the photosensitivity side effects of chemo, which is another fun thing we've recently found out about!), and dry ice helpers (Carrie will be using cold caps, cold mits, and cold socks filled with dry ice during chemo to help avoid some of the side effects including neuropathy of the hands and feet and hair loss, so we'll need to bring 50 lbs of dry ice to the infusion center per appointment). If you or a loved one has gone through this before or you just have an amazing idea of another way to be helpful, we'll take it! Feel free to send me (her daughter, Victoria Hoffman) a text at (469) 713-9696. Also, always feel free to reach out to my mom with words of encouragement, funny TV show recommendations, amazing playlists, and thoughts of love directly via text at (469) 363-3111.
Carrie's favorite restaurants that are close by are Luna Grill, Flower Child, ChopShop, and Bellagreen. We're avoiding red meat and processed sugar (trying to nip this thing in the bud, okay?!) Thank you!
