This is not something I ever thought I'd post because asking for help is really hard for me. I have never even attempted something like this before. Early Monday morning at 5:00 a.m., I woke up with severe abdominal pain and was rushed to the ER by my newly licensed teenager, who handled the situation amazingly under an incredible amount of pressure. I ended up being admitted to Med/Surg that afternoon and taken in for emergency surgery the following day (Tue, July 28). During my CT in the ER, they found several kidney stones, including a 4mm stone completely blocking my ureter, which had already caused a kidney infection. Unfortunately, the surgery wasn't successful in breaking up or removing the stone, so I'll need a second surgery, hopefully to be scheduled sometime next week or the week after. So currently, I have 3 stones (2 4mm & 1 3mm) and a stent placed. As if that wasn't enough, they also discovered my IUD is twisted and compromising my uterus, so that's another issue I'll need to deal with. On top of everything else, I also got a call that my recent mammogram came back with findings, and I need to go back for additional imaging. It's been a lot. I'm finally home but still in quite a bit of pain. I'm trying to work in a hybrid capacity as much as I can while also taking care of the house, the kids, and our pets. I almost never ask for help, but I'm trying to remind myself that it's okay to let people show up for you when you need it. If anyone is willing and able to help with a meal between August 1 and August 14, it would mean more to me than I can put into words. Whether it's dropping off dinner, sending takeout, or even just keeping us in your thoughts, we are incredibly grateful. Thinking about grocery shopping, cooking, making meals etc, is just not something I can do these next 2 weeks. Thank you to everyone who has checked in, sent messages, or offered support already. We're hoping to get through this next surgery and finally be on the road to recovery. ❤️
A small request for anyone who is thinking about bringing a meal: Because of everything going on with my kidneys, I'm trying to stick to cleaner, lighter foods while I recover. If possible, meals with lean protein, vegetables, whole grains, and fresh ingredients would be greatly appreciated. Things like grilled chicken, baked fish, turkey, rice, roasted vegetables, salads, soups, or pasta with a light sauce are perfect. We're a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 teenager, and 1 child), so family-style meals are ideal. The kids and husband are picky but it's either this or nothing from me lol. Thank you all so much for helping us get through this. Please no $ - just asking for help with meals; we will figure the rest out :)
