The Warming Center at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter

Bangor, ME

Story

You can literally save lives this winter! We urgently need volunteers for the Winter Warming Center.  Every winter, The Bangor Area Homeless Shelter provides overnight emergency shelter to people living outside during the winter access to a safe warm place to get a hot dinner and dry clothes. The Warming Center opens December 4, 2024, and closes March 21, 2025. We need volunteers to cook dinner for 20 people at home and drop it off at the shelter. Dinner for 20 people is 1 disposable roasting pan worth of food. Cook a main course dinner at home and drop it off at the Shelter. We serve 20 people a night - one turkey sized aluminum pan worth of food. Volunteer Hours: Drop off the meal between 8 am and 4:30 pm. Contact Gretchen at [email protected] to set up a tour to see what ingredients you can grab form the shelter to cook with.

Special Notes

* We gladly accept donations of ground coffee, powered creamer, hand and foot warmers, gloves, emergency blankets, sweatpants, paper plates and cups, and utensils.
