Comfort Food for Douglas Beaven

Flagler Beach, FL

W
Story

Thank you for all your love and support since Doug's diagnosis in September 2025. We promised many of you that we would think of ways you could help comfort the Beaven family along this journey and now that his surgery is over, we know a little bit more about what life looks like moving forward. Doug's stomach has a new side hustle as his esophogus. Think of it this way - your stomach is a bag - Doug's stomach is now a tube. While his body heals, he will require the help of a feeding tube for several weeks. During that time he gets to practice swallowing soft foods like soups, custards, smoothies etc. Unfortunately, Doug's journey isn't complete just yet. Chemo did a great job knocking back the cancer and the surgeons worked for nine hours to remove it all. Even so, some demon cells still roam his body. That means more treatment is in his future. To help him keep up his strength, we are also gathering recipes for your favorite soft foods.

Special Notes
