Care for Karon

W
Story

The person who is always there for everyone else now needs us to be there for her. Our dear friend is preparing to undergo a major spinal surgery called Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) on May 30th after suffering from severe spinal cord compression caused by disc degeneration, herniated discs, and bone spurs in her neck. During surgery, doctors will remove damaged discs and bone spurs from levels C3–C6, place bone grafts in their place, and stabilize her spine with plates and screws. She will then face a long recovery while wearing a full cervical collar for approximately two months. She is the kind of person who shows up for everyone — the helper, the caregiver, the one who quietly takes care of things without ever asking for anything in return. Now it’s our turn to take care of her. During recovery, she will be unable to drive and will need help with transportation to appointments, meals, errands, company during long days at home, and other day-to-day support while she heals. We would love to surround her with love, encouragement, and practical help so she can focus fully on healing. Every prayer, share, meal, ride, visit, gift card, and act of kindness means more than words can say. Thank you for helping us show up for someone who has always shown up for all of us.

Special Notes

Food will mainly be for the guys, but if anyone would like to make a dish for Karon, she is non-dairy vegetarian. Otherwise, they eat pretty much everything! One of Karon’s favorites is the salmon with rice and broccoli from Ron's Original Bar & Grille if that helps with ideas.
