Monica and Brian joyfully completed their family with the arrival of sweet baby Micah. While vacationing in Siesta Key, Florida, over Labor Day weekend, the Francis family received an unexpected call: their dear friend and gestational carrier, Anna, had gone into preterm labor at just 33 weeks and 2 days. Doctors at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission were able to stabilize things long enough for Monica, Brian, and big brother Beni to rush back to Kansas City. Thankfully, Anna was able to carry Micah for five more crucial days before doctors induced labor at 34 weeks. On Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:39 a.m., Micah James Nguyen Francis made his grand entrance. Because of his early arrival, a long NICU stay was anticipated. Doctors initially expected six weeks until he reached full-term age. But Micah had other plans, yet again! After just one day on CPAP for lung support and 24 hours under bilirubin lights for jaundice, he quickly showed his strength and resilience. He was breathing independently, maintaining his temperature, regulating his heart rate, and even taking full bottles, which is impressive for a 34- to 35-weeker. Instead of the anticipated six weeks, Micah was discharged after only two. He proved himself strong, determined, and ready to be home. Monica, Brian, and Beni are overjoyed to have their family together finally. Beni and Micah haven't been in the same place since April 2021, during their embryo creation, and are now reunited, which is a pretty incredible reunion.
