Hello Family and Friends, I've set up this page for my dear cousin, Sonia, and her family to support them while they are facing some challenging medical issues. My uncle Amado, Sonia's dad, is battling cancer, and Sonia (his primary caregiver) will have surgery on December 15. Below, is a little more detail about what they are dealing with and the ways they need support. ———— Sonia's FB post dated Dec. 5, 2025 I'm deeply grateful for the support I've received, which has allowed me to care for my dad during his toughest moments. Your kindness has been invaluable, and I appreciate every bit of help we've received. However, things have become financially challenging again. My dad's hospitalization this morning has added to my responsibilities as his primary caregiver. As most know, he's fighting Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to his brain, making him bedridden, immunocompromised, and unable to undergo chemotherapy. His doctors recommend hospice care, and recurring UTIs often require hospitalization. I've used up my paid time off, and without FMLA, I'm struggling to balance work. I know I have reached out for help before, and I want to say from my heart how truly grateful I am. Many nights, I'm awake caring for him, and I'll soon need surgery, requiring a two-week recovery. I can no longer keep putting my surgery off. With my dad's care, hospital stays, my surgery, and financial obligations, and basic needs, I'm feeling overwhelmed. Despite my best efforts, I still need help. Again, your support has allowed me to be there for my dad during the hardest season of his life, and I thank God for every bit of help we’ve received. It has meant more than you know. If you’re able to support in any way—financially, by sharing this, or through prayers—I would be truly grateful. Thank you for your continued kindness during this difficult time and caregiving. If you'd like to help directly, you can send through Zelle or Venmo: • Zelle: 704-807-3088 Venmo: 704-807-3088 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and compassion during this difficult time. With gratitude, and love, Sonia 12/7 Update : we are waiting on more results ,my dad has a blood infection ..Please pray 🙏🏼 ————
*At this time, the family is not receiving visitors. Info about dietary preferences: No known food allergies. The family enjoys chicken dishes, pot roast, and stews. *After surgery, Sonia will be on a liquid diet. A great item to add to their pantry would be Premier Protein shakes in vanilla, strawberry-cream, and chocolate peanut butter, not only for her but also for her dad. If you are not a cook but still want to participate in the meal train, DoorDash gift cards are a great alternative. Even though groceries are requested for Fridays, they can be delivered on Saturday or Sunday.
