As many of you know, I have been living with chronic pain for years caused by endometriosis, fibroids, and ongoing digestive issues. For a long time, I struggled to find answers. It took years of being dismissed, misdiagnosed, and pushed through treatments that never addressed the real problem. I finally found a doctor who listened. After doing the proper tests and procedures, he confirmed what I always knew my body had been trying to tell me. I have large fibroids, stage 4 endometriosis, and a 5 centimeter tumor that has been growing inside my colon for years. The tumor is now almost completely blocking my colon, and the only path forward is a major three part surgery to remove everything and restore my health. The recovery will be long, about 6 to 8 weeks, and during that time I will not be able to do many of the things I normally can. This is why I am reaching out for support. If you are able and willing, a few ways to help during this time include: Transportation for Nylah to and from school, or help covering the cost of Uber. You can Zelle any amount to help cover the cost. Food delivery, since cooking will be difficult in the early weeks. Gift cards for food, groceries, or essentials, which would be a huge help. Quality time. I will be on the couch for a while, so stopping by to watch a show or movie with me would mean a lot. Small household tasks, such as taking out the trash or helping with quick chores. A call or message to check in. Your presence and support truly keep my spirits up. This is one of the hardest chapters I have faced, and I am deeply grateful for any kindness, help, or encouragement you can offer. Thank you for being part of my community as I work toward healing.
For the first several weeks after surgery, I need to avoid foods that are hard to digest or that can cause gas, bloating, or irritation. This includes raw vegetables, tough leafy greens, whole grains, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, popcorn, corn, spicy foods, acidic foods, fried or greasy meals, and anything very high in fiber. I also need to limit dairy, as well as foods that can cause constipation like heavy red meats or processed snacks. I do best with soft, gentle foods such as soups, mashed potatoes, white rice, eggs, smoothies made without seeds, and simple, non-greasy meals. I will update here if I get additional information about my diet later. Thank you so much for helping me stay comfortable while I heal.
