The last few days have been something none of us could have imagined. Tommy went from living his normal life to suddenly losing feeling and function in his legs, being transferred to Boston, and undergoing emergency spinal surgery for a severe cervical disc herniation that was compressing his spinal cord. The surgery went well, and we are incredibly thankful for that. Right now, Tommy is not yet able to walk, and we know there is a long road of recovery and rehabilitation ahead of him. There are still so many unknowns, and recovery from this type of spinal cord injury happens on its own timeline. For now, we’re focused on the small signs of progress and taking things one day at a time. Tommy’s parents will be spending a lot of time over the coming weeks and months going back and forth to Boston / then rehab to be with Tommy. Ensuring they have meals covered during their travels and help with gas and parking fees.
