Little Wyatt has been through a very difficult few weeks. After being sick on and off since August, he was recently hospitalized at Oakland UCSF with what turned out to be a ruptured appendix and several abscesses. He received strong IV antibiotics and pain management as the doctors worked to control the infection and prevent further complications. Wyatt underwent a procedure to drain some of the abscesses, which helped to relieve some of his pain, but he's not in the clear yet. The medical team sent the culture from the abscesses for testing to make sure that they have the infection under control. Wyatt finally went home from the hospital after a very difficult stretch. His doctors are optimistic that the antibiotics are working well, and now that they know the specific bacteria causing the infection, Wyatt can continue treatment with oral medication from home. Wyatt has been so incredibly brave, but it's been hard. He's back in the comfort of his home, but he's tired, weak, and his body is working hard to clear the infection. Alley and family are doing everything they can to support him through this tough recovery. Alley is doing her best to balance being there for Wyatt while continuing to work with very little rest in between. Wyatt is scheduled to have an appendectomy in six weeks, and we're hoping that he won't need to have an emergency surgery before then. Please keep Wyatt and his family in your thoughts as he continues to heal. Any messages of encouragement or acts of support are deeply appreciated.
Alley and Wyatt are pescatarian and gluten free, so please keep that in mind if you want to send them meals.
