Supporting the Hayes through Bill‘s recovery

Story

On Wednesday, Bill underwent what was expected to be a major but straightforward back surgery. Once the surgeon began, they discovered that Bill’s vertebra had completely collapsed, something far more urgent and dangerous than anyone realized. Tina shared how the entire surgical team gathered around them, held hands, as she prayed, inviting Jesus into the operating room before they began. As the surgery progressed, Bill experienced terrifying complications. At one point, he lost all movement and sensation in his legs. Doctors rushed him for immediate imaging to look for a possible spinal stroke. Through nonstop prayer and God’s mercy, the MRI showed no stroke, and over the next hours his movement slowly began to return. He has now regained movement and feeling in his lower extremities, all glory be to God!!! The doctors will need to complete the rest of the surgery on December 3, but for now, Bill has been released to go home under Tina’s full-time care while they wait for the next procedure. If you know Tina, you know she loves with her whole heart. She serves everyone, shows up for everyone, prays for everyone, and carries burdens that aren’t even her own. This is a chance for us, her family in Christ, to carry her and Bill the same way she carries all of us. Our goal is simple: To give Tina the space and energy she needs to care for Bill without the added stress of cooking and meal planning (or doing dishes!!!) Every meal is one less thing for her to worry about. It’s one more reminder that she isn’t carrying this alone. Thank you for loving on them during this incredibly heavy and exhausting season. Your kindness will be felt deeply.
