Erin's Cancer Meal Train

Brooklyn, NY

W
Story

Hi friends of Erin, Dylan and Arlo! Some of you reached out and asked me to set up a meal train, noting that it would be a meaningful way for you to support Erin during her cancer treatments. Thank you for the idea! Wow do we adore Erin, Dylan and Baby Arlo. First a brief health update: The bad news, of course you know, is that Erin has cancer. The good news: it’s colon cancer which is quite treatable in her case. Erin had surgery in August and it went well, they removed 12 inches of colon. Though they did not find evidence of it spreading to her liver or lungs (great news!), they did find a suspicious polyp. What now? Chemo. Her doctors say this should nuke it all. But the process will be gnarly…6 months of infusions every 2 weeks. Which means: fatigue, nausea, side effects. She had her first infusion on Sept 9th and now is about a month in. Unfortunately the side effects keep getting "weirder and worse." Healthy, nutritious meals will make a huge difference in the upcoming months. Erin’s family has a lot going on! Baby Arlo is toddling about, and an absolute JOY. Dylan is in grad school for nursing. And Erin continues to teach animation at a college level. It’s the New York hustle…but add a toddler, cancer, and chemo. Here is how you can help: If you are in NYC, and wish to drop off a home cooked meal, that's great! Go to the care calendar and pick a date to provide a meal. If you are out of the area, please go to the Wishlist. I have put GrubHub gift cards on the wishlist. GrubHub credit will allow them to order dinner to be delivered. The majority of their local restaurants accept these cards. (Since colon cancer has associated dietary restrictions, we would prefer for Erin to order the exact items herself.) We recommend between $50-$100 to cover a delivered meal for 3. Please do what is most comfortable for your family, any support makes a difference in the love they feel. Hopefully this app makes it easy-peasy to shower some love and care on Erin during this chemo season of life. I've never actually set one of these up before, so if there are hitches, let me know and I will troubleshoot. Please forward this email to anyone who may want to be involved in showing up for Erin and fam during this time. -Steph And a big hug from Erin, Dylan and Arlo. Thank you!
