Rob's Recovery Meal Train

W
Story

My fiancee Robert Mills was hospitalized initially on July 24th for liver complications while presenting jaundice. It ended up being a bile stone in his biliary tract. We ended up getting transferred to a different hospital because they needed specialized equipment to try and remove the stone. Both hospitals performed a procedure and both were unsuccessful. As a history, Rob is a two-time transplant patient. He had a liver donated to him by his very generous Uncle John in 2006 due to Rob's Wilsons disease. Over the next 4 years Rob dealt with complications from the first transplant and ended up needing a second one in 2010. Now, he needed to return to the hospitals in St. Louis where his old liver transplant team could perform the needed procedure. All this time, we are in the middle of a move with our 5 pets from Houston, TX to St. Louis, MO. Thanks to the grace of God and many friends and family, we got up here safely and Rob was admitted to Barnes Jewish Hospital. His last procedure was the removal of the biliary stone on August 31st and we are happy to say it is gone. Rob still has a medical drain in but he's on the road to recovery. However, this whole ordeal has caused a lot of financial strain on us and his family. Rob has been unable to work for the past 2 months and though we are utilizing social resources like a food pantry and have a case worker, we could use some extra support. Whether you prefer to donate something off our wishlist, supply a meal, or just donate some funds for bills anything at all is helpful and very appreciated.

Special Notes

General Food notes: Chicken is our preferred meat but we also like beef and pork. No fish please. Rob cannot do spicy food (I love it tho). We aren't good about eating our veggies so they need to be hidden in the food or able to be picked out. Fruit-wise we like green apples and grapes (red or green are fine). Foods we absolutely wont eat are mushrooms, sweet potatoes, cabbage, and broccoli. Drinks: Rob loves Fanta Orange, Root Beer or Apple Juice. I can't drink sugary drinks due to my diabetes so I usually drink Coke or Sprite Zero. Snacks: Rob loves croutons or goldfish to snack on. I like pretzels or spicy chips.
