Hey Sunshine Squad! We started this page to help support my mom, Rena, as she begins what we know will be a journey. Back in August, while still working, Mom started having a sharp pain in her left jaw. This happened shortly before she retired and before she came to visit me in Savannah. What followed were many visits to her dentist, multiple referrals, and appointments with specialists as everyone worked to figure out what was going on. Recently, she took a big first step by having parotid gland surgery to remove a growth. While surgery was an important milestone, it’s only the beginning, and there may be more steps ahead. As she heals and we learn more, our main goal is to make sure she feels supported, cared for, and not alone in this. I live about four hours away, and while I wish I could be there for everything, this page helps ensure my mama is truly taken care of. This will be the place to coordinate meal donations, help with getting items she may need, and organize support for appointments or transportation as those needs come up. Mom has a village, and this page is the best way for that village to stay connected, organized, and show up for her in meaningful ways. Every act of kindness — no matter how small — makes a difference. Thank you for loving her and for being part of her care and support.
Mom doesn’t really like spicy foods but outside of that, she will try anything! She’s grateful for any and all support.
