Chad is unfortunately in his second battle with brain cancer after being cancer free for four years. On June 24th, he started the radiation treatments. After they are completed he will have to wait for the swelling in his brain to go down before they can do an MRI. They have him on a heavy dose of steroids (dexamethazone) and basically, the doctor said that his brain was aggravated because its an over lap of radiation, meaning that they are treating an area thats already been treated before . It is going to cause swelling and bad headaches, so he will be on steroids for a month while healing before seeing the oncologist, setting up an MRI and discussing a chemo schedule. This whole round will most likely carry into the Fall, which he was not expecting. He is in contact with American Cancer Society for help, but right now, we want to make his life as easy for him as possible while he is resting and fighting. Chad has only lived in the area for a year, but has made a huge impact already in helping the under-served in the community, including actively helping the unhoused population with their needs by seeking them out independently and through helping with meal distributions with Angels of Easton. It is our turn to show how much he is appreciated and supported. At this time, the doctor has him on a strict diet of eggs, chicken, fish, veggies, fruits, and healthy cereal and low to no carbs. If cooking a meal for him, we ask if possible to make enough for two meals so that he can have extra for the next day lunch. We also have a slot once a week set up for groceries if anyone would like to pitch in that way as well! If there are any questions, feel free to message and we will get back to you ASAP! He is so appreciative of any and all help given, so thank you!!!
