A few years ago, the Taylors were faced with a serious health scare when Matt was infected with COVID and hospitalized for a lengthy amount of time. During that time, Matt was placed on a ventilator and received many steroids as his body fought to stay alive. Now, a few years later, it seems that the care he received has caused further complications, leading to a condition called avascular necrosis. Essentially, the bones in Matt's hips are dying, and he has needed emergency hip surgeries that no one anticipated. This April Matt went in to replace his first hip.
