Chemo Care for the Scully Family

Vacaville, CA

W
Story

Rebecca Scully was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) and had surgery to remove the tumor in late May. The pathology report had some genuinely good news tucked inside it: - The tumor was removed with clear margins - Both lymph nodes tested came back negative — no spread - The cancer was found relatively early and is Stage 1. Rebecca's treatment plan: - Port placement on June 25 — a small device placed under the skin near the collarbone that gives the infusion team easy, vein-friendly access for chemo - 4 cycles of TC chemotherapy, every 3 weeks, starting June 29 — a shorter regimen than many breast cancer patients face - Radiation therapy afterward - The goal is to eliminate the cancer entirely, not simply manage it. She also happens to have two breast cancer survivor sisters — different types than hers, but cured. She fully intends to follow their lead. Earlier in June, their son Samuel graduated with high honors from Vacaville High School, and that is its own kind of medicine. Their older son Benjamin is out in the world doing well in his own right. They are so proud of their boys.

Special Notes

We would most appreciate gift cards as we live in Vacaville and Howard has a hybrid work structure, and in addition we have dietary restrictions, so gift cards offer us the most flexibility. Many thanks in advance, and for the amazing generosity this congregation has already shown us!
