Our community is coming together to support the Richard family following the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of their father and husband. Rose is now facing the unimaginable task of moving forward while caring for and providing for her five children—Dorian, Omarion, Dashon, Mason, and Nikki—without their father by their side. While I don't know every detail of this family’s story, I have had the privilege of getting to know Mason, who spent much of this summer at our home. Getting to know him has made this loss feel especially close to home. He is a wonderful kid, and knowing that he and his brothers and sister are now navigating the loss of their father is heartbreaking. Beyond the grief of losing someone they love, Rose is now carrying the enormous responsibility of supporting five children on her own. During a time when this family should be focused solely on grieving, healing, and being together, they are also faced with the practical realities that come with such a devastating loss. That is where we, as a community, can help. Our hope is to surround Rose and her children with the love and support of the people around them. Any contribution—large or small—can help ease some of the financial burden of the weeks and months ahead and allow this family to focus on what matters most: one another.
