Support for the Mayrie family

Hawthorne, CA

Story

Anthony "Tony" Mayrie is a husband and father to 4 children. Tony is a LAUSD teacher, a veteran, and is most known for coaching volleyball. He is one of the founder of Beach Cities Volleyball Club nearly 25 years ago and has coached at various schools in the South LA area as well. Unfortunately, Tony suffered a brain aneurysm on Friday, September 22, 2023. He passed away Monday morning September 25, 2023. Rosa, Tony's wife, and four children, two of which attend high school and play volleyball for Beach Cities Volleyball Club, need our help more than ever. Please volunteer to bring a meal or send a gift card to provide one. Anything can help in this shocking and difficult time . . . as well as the extended difficulties for the family. The Mayrie family thanks you in advance.

Special Notes

Rosa doesn't have a PayPal or Venmo account, only Tony did, all donations collected in my Venmo account will be cashed out to Rosa. To avoid fees that may occur on the site, gift cards can be sent directly to Rosa @ rosacmr7@gmail.com . Please feel free to reach out to Coach Sarah sarahborquez6@gmail.com or text Coach Christian 310-382-0899.

Missing my buddy, no more arguments, no more debates, missing a great friend, an awesome coach, that had a love and passion for the game of volleyball. He taught like no other and if you can take it he’ll take you all the way to the next step of Volleyball University Style. From Hope MONTAGUE and Madison Clark, with continuous prayers for the family during this time. There’s no one like Tony and there will never be anyone that can fill those shoes. Missing an irreplaceable friend.

Our deepest sympathy to your family. Coach Tony was our daughter's coach in 2017. We didn't know him long, but he was just the right coach for our daughter, Kirby Clark. Even though she struggled, Coach Tony was kind and understanding, but still had high expectations. He taught her more than how to be a better volleyball player, he taught her how to be a team player with grace and integrity. It was an honor to know him.

My daughter Yasmine may have not worked closely with Coach Tony but did get to interact with him during clinics and knew the strong coaching ethics he provided to all in the gym. We saw how much he was loved at Beach Cities. We are sadden to hear this news and send our prayers and condolences to the family and for all those close up him. ~May God give his loved ones comfort, grace and help them through this difficult time. Amen

Coach Tony had a huge impact on my daughter, Morgan Bell. He was her Beach Cities coach for a couple of years. He believed in her and challenged her to believe in herself. He constantly made her get out of her confort zone and showed her she had so much more talent than she realized. He could have a tough exterior but he was so kind and cared about the kids on his teams. Coach Tony will be missed and my prayers are with his family and friends.
