August 27th Update - On behalf of Julie, Mike’s parents, siblings and those close to him, a huge thank you to all those who attended Mike’s Celebration of Life event last night. The kind words and out pouring of emotional support made for an amazing evening and a fitting tribute to Mike. It was proof of the huge impact that Mike has had on so many of our lives. For the next several months the GiveinKind.com web page with the meal train and the SpotFund web site will remain active. Please remember Julie, Finn and Mason as they continue to make a new life for themselves without Mike. Thank you for all your thoughts and support! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- August 6th Update - Join us for a Celebration of Life gathering set for Saturday, August 26th from 6-9pm at Setter Ridge Vineyard (99 Dietrich Valley Road, Kutztown) to honor Mike Erdman. This will be a pot-luck dinner starting at 6:15 followed by a remembrance at 7pm. A cash bar will be available for beer and wine; water and assorted other drinks will be provided. You may want to bring some lawn chairs to be comfortable after dinner. There are so many of us who love and care for his family and want to help. This site is meant to give direction to this giving so as a community we can help in the best ways possible. Right now the focus is on near term needs- helping with meals, immediate expenses, and words of encouragement. This is a work in progress so as other needs are identified we will update this page. If you know someone who wants to help, please direct them to this page so we can avoid redundant efforts. If you have an idea of something that is not listed please reach out, not everything being offered to the family is listed here.
Special Notes
Right now we are trying to provide them both prepared meals for dinner Monday through Thursday and gift certificates for local eateries (favorites include: Mamma's, K-town Pub, Valentino's, La Cocina Mexicana, Wert's Cafe, Carrabba's, Chipolte and Capparotti's), and grocery cards from Giant or Wegman's so that they may also have the flexibility of eating at home, ordering in or going out. If you are delivering food there are two coolers on the front porch that food can be placed in (1xHot/1xCold). Don't be surprised if the hounds hear you coming and greet you, but don't worry, they still haven't figured out how to open the door yet. Please leave reheat instructions with the diner if applicable. Gift cards or gift certificates can also be left in the coolers along with words of encouragements. ----- None of them have dietary allergies to worry about, and they eat "most mainstream things". They prefer the terrestrial meats, normal starches, and a variety of vegetables more colored than greens. Please try to use disposable pans if able as not create a plethora of dishes that would need to be returned.
