Sawyer Strong

Eaton, OH

Story

“This is without a doubt the hardest thing that we have ever had to type, write or even think about, so please bear with us as we work through this... Sawyer Lee's cancer has returned. It appears to be the same that he had before, T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma. It is in his thymus, kidneys and lymph nodes. This is a very rare, aggressive cancer and it's uncommon to relapse after three years. On Monday he will have to go to Nationwide Children's in Columbus for a PET scan. On Tuesday, he will be admitted to Dayton Children's for a port placement, lumbar puncture and bone marrow biopsy. His chemotherapy will start immediately and due to the aggressiveness of the treatment, he will remain hospitalized for at least 4 weeks. We were thankful to discover that since his first cancer diagnosis, two additional medications have been approved that specifically target these cells. After the 4-week induction phase they will re-evaluate. Successful treatment will then lead to a bone marrow transplant. Tucker, Raiden, Felicity and Clara are our most likely candidates for a positive match. If not, we will be asking for anyone willing to be tested to see if they can donate. Tucker and Raiden are fighting to be the one to donate! The love of a brother is such a beautiful sight to witness, especially in a situation like this. Wedgies and noogies one second, to offering up your bone marrow! :D We are calling on all prayer warriors right now! That you would pray for complete, total, MIRACULOUS healing for Sawyer Lee! He is the sweetest, most loving little boy and there isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't remind us that "I love you and Jesus loves you!" We also ask for prayers as we navigate the coming weeks. We have seven children total, one is married and out of the house, but five additional children that will be feeling the absence of their brother and a parent at all times. We love you all and thank you for the prayers that will be offered for our precious boy and family!” -Ashlee Rickert
