W
Story

I get my child’s story matters so I do want to share how I knew something was wrong even though she was still going to school and things. First her walk started looking odd, like she was hurting and sometimes would say so but couldn’t specify where Second constant going and coming low grade fever like 99-100 mostly (for weeks). No explanation for them really, no other sick signs and even when tested Monday for “fever causes” all test were negative. Third is extremely fatigued. She was going to bed so early and still had major dark circles. With this followed not eating well or only eating some meals and skipping others. Last she starting wanting ice to eat alot along with her color looking off. I had been contemplating for a week or two that she sounded like a girls story I know of, Perry, but I think was like no it can’t be, she’s not sick sick, my baby doesn’t have that internal denial. But as my 3 weeks of spidey senses kept being remind of how Perry was diagnosed I knew. The morning I took her to ER and kindof forced them to do a blood panel I called my best friend who also knows Perry’s story and she didn’t even let me finish. She knew what I was already aligning with. So thank you Ashley for telling your sweet babies story because she saved my baby from suffering longer of not knowing. Her story gives me so much hope and makes some of what they tell me is coming up not as overwhelming because of your transparency. And moms listen to your gut, advocate for your child and do not let them be dismissed. The ER doctor initially looked at us like why are we there, till her blood work came back- he had immediately called oncology with concerns before telling me results. I don’t wish this for anyone adult nor child especially but I want others educated so that it’s caught early on. And knowledge is power.
