My name is Lucy, and I am reaching out for support as I prepare to undergo open heart surgery for mitral valve replacement and possibly 2 other procedures . This is a difficult and uncertain time for me, as I will need to take time off work to focus on my recovery. Unfortunately, my job does not offer paid leave, and I am not sure when I will be able to return to work. My surgery is the 28th and I am already on leave as I have many appts and tests that are required before surgery in a couple weeks including a heart catherization , dental clearance which is a process , labs , X-rays, and other tests .This means that, while I am healing, I will not have an income to cover my regular bills and living expenses. I am incredibly grateful for the amazing support system I have around me—my friends, family, and community have already shown so much kindness. I also have two sons who work hard to help, but their income is not enough to manage all of our expenses during this time. The financial strain of being unable to work is overwhelming, and I am worried about how I will manage essential expenses during this period. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward helping me pay for my bills and living costs while I recover from surgery.
