Hi everyone, I’m reaching out today to ask for help during what has been the hardest year and a half of our lives. Fifteen months ago, my life was turned upside down in an instant. While at a trash transfer station, I stepped into an unmarked, uncovered hole. The fall resulted in catastrophic injuries to my leg and foot, including a broken tibia, severely damaged tendons, and extensive nerve damage. Since that day, my life has consisted of relentless pain, physical therapy, and major surgeries: Surgery 1: Hardware placement (screws and a metal plate) to reconstruct my broken bone and repair damaged tendons. Surgery 2: A complex procedure to cut the damaged nerves in my foot in a desperate attempt to relieve constant, agonizing nerve pain. I have been unable to work for 1 year and 3 months. While we are actively fighting a legal case against the entity responsible for the unsafe conditions that caused this fall, the court process is extremely slow. Corporate insurance companies drag their feet, and in the meantime, the bills don't stop coming. My main focus every single day is making sure my family of three has a roof over their heads and food on the table. My wife and I are stretching every penny to the limit, but after 15 months with zero steady income, our savings are completely exhausted, and we are struggling just to keep groceries in the fridge.
