Supporting Jessica Soltesz After Surgery

Story

My daughter in laws story: Well here’s one thing I never thought would be on my bingo card, definitely not at 36. I was diagnosed with breast cancer, invasive ductal carcinoma, a few weeks ago. This all started with a lump I randomly found back in April that kinda worried me but I just thought I was crazy. I waited a month to see if it was random and after a mammogram and ultrasound I was sent for biopsy. Biopsy was positive and an MRI showed another smaller mass right under the tumor and some extra enhancement which is also suspicious, so I likely have two tumors right next to each other, which is annoying. Genetics came back all negative which is awesome but the total amount on that side is a lot and I don’t have a lot of tissue to give. I’ll be scheduling surgery to remove that whole breast then do reconstruction the same surgery. Chemo won’t be decided until after surgery from the final pathology on the tumor and if my lymph nodes are clear. So far my lymph nodes look clear on imaging but they will take some out to check, that’s probably my biggest unknown I’m stressed about. My cancer is hormone positive so after all of this I will be on endocrine therapy for the next 5-10 years to help prevent reoccurrence. So far the waiting is the worst part. It’s a treatable cancer so I’m telling myself it’s so far the best scenario from a shitty situation. I’m angry, terrified and just really don’t want to do any of this. I’m trying to stay positive but it’s really hard and doom scrolling is real sometimes. But it is what it is and I am just ready to get this whole process started.
