Story

Markie was first diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer in November of 2024. After a courageous fight, we learned in November of 2025 that the cancer had spread to his bones—affecting his hips, spine, and both shoulders. At the end of December, Markie was admitted to the hospital to help manage his pain. During that stay, a series of complications revealed that the cancer had also spread to the lining of his brain and sinus area. After one final round of chemotherapy, doctors determined that the best course of action was for Markie to return home on hospice care, where he could be surrounded by family. We are so grateful that Markie is home. His wife, Jess, has lovingly stepped into the role of his full-time caregiver. While this is a blessing, it is also incredibly time- and energy-consuming. Through this meal sign-up, we hope to ease some of the daily stress so their family can focus on what matters most—spending precious time together with Markie.
